Weekend Review

This past weekend has been a good one, the weather was nice but not too hot. On Friday afternoon Michael had a friend over after school and the boys played Wii and Basketball. I had made Blueberry Banana Muffins but they were all gobbled up before I could take a photo of them. I guess I'll have to make some more. I'm creating a recipe binder of all my personal favourite recipes hand written out by me. I'm also attaching a photo of each item.

Friday night was crop night I was very productive in organizing my photos from the first 6 months of this year. I also figured out that I missed printing a whole day and a half from my Crop n Cruise trip.

Saturday started slow with finishing up the photo organizing from the night before and then I worked on Elvino's Father's Day gift. It is an album of all our fishing trips in 2006. That was a great year for fishing. I'll post a photo asap.

My friend Cindy came for a visit and it was nice to spend some time with her and hear about her daughter's grad the night before. Glad the pool is set up Cindy, Mikey and I'll will be over this summer for sure.

Saturday afternoon we went to the ball field to watch the first playoff game of the Season. We play our fist playoff game Tuesday.

Then Michael had Baseball Clinic for 2 hours.
I stayed home and scrapped a layout.

This evening was a mellow one, Michael and I played Guitar Hero and then made a bed in the middle of the living room floor. By 5am I could hardly move and made my way to my bed. I'm not as young and agile as I once was. LOL

Sunday I spent the day with my buddies from the Scrapaholics. I wasn't too productive but did manage to finish Elvino's gift and create 1 1/2 layouts.

As oftens happens after a crop day I came home and still had a lot of creative juices flowing through my head. I stayed up until 2am working on an acrylic ablum I'm doing from the Crop n Cruise. It is getting much closer to being done and I will post all the photos once it is complete.

Thanks for visiting and have a great week.

Norwegian Dawn

This photo is from the Norwegian Dawn, Izzy and I tried many photo ops around the ship by their professional photographers over the course of our cruise and were beginning to wonder if we would ever find a photo that was half decent. This photo was taken on our final night aboard the ship, and last but not least, a photo that we could keep.

Last night I wanted to get a little creative and so I reached into my cupboard full of pattern paper and without looking I grabbed one. Then I found this gorgeous photo and away I went. I used SEI paper, Prima flowers, Imaginise flowers, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and Heidi Swapp Bling.

Thanks for visiting, have a great day!

A Day of Firsts

This is Grinder, he lives at the top of Grouse Mtn. It was only my 2nd time to the top of Grouse Mtn, the first was last year at this time for a school fieldtrip with Michael's class. The weather was very grey and socked in. But a highlight was that we got to see Grinder and Coola. This time I was lucky enough to see them both again. I great shots of Grinder and we even got to watch him slide down a 15 ft snow bank.

The famous "Grouse Grind", I had never had the opportunity to climb up it until yesterday. My friend Robin had a great idea that we should climb to the top of Grouse Mountain via the "Grouse Grind". I had read that it is like climbing a 1,000 stairs in the forest and I agree, that is how I would describe it. The beauty of the forest is awesome, the giant trees help to keep you cool by giving you shade, the majestic openings through the treetops letting in the sunlight as it lit up parts of the forest were breathtaking. The fresh clean air, it smelt so good.

The 1/2 way marker attached to the rooted tree was a great photo op. I'm sure some of the regulars on the trail thought we were nuts always stopping to get out the camera. I love how scrapbooking causes us to document the everyday things we do in life. Okay maybe this is not an everyday thing but I'm sure it could become an every two week thing. LOL

This is how we desended down the mountain, the gondola ride down is sure a lot faster than the climb up.

The first Slip N' Slide day of Summer. Okay I know it is not official just yet but this week was so hot we broke out the old slip n' slide for an afternoon of "cool" fun.

Thanks for visiting.

Production Baby!

Yesterday I spent the day with my Scrapaholic buddies Scrapping the day away. Some days I can just turn my focus on my work and the production comes. I was so excited to get 4 layouts done at the crop and then I went home and completed two more layouts before heading out for the evening. All of these layouts are for my DisneyWorld Vacation album from 2007.

June has arrived and that means Sports Day, Year-end Assemblies, Year-end Parties, Baseball and Summer plans.

Yesterday we went down to Stanley Park to hear the 9 o'clock gun and walked around the Convention Centre had a little looky loo at the place. I find the grass on the roof interesting and my ds wanted to know who has the job of mowing it.

Today was a Pro-D for Michael and so we all went to lunch with my brother at Pizza Hut. Oh how we love our all-you-can-eat Lunch Buffet at Pizza Hut. My favourite is the cherry dessert pizza. It was nice to sit and have a visit with my brother, seems like we are always racing and not much time for visiting.

After lunch we went to the movie "Night at the Museum 2", it was okay. Not as good as the first one imo.

Tonight I stayed home and got caught up on getting my photos printed. I did discover something that concerns me though. I pulled out a cd created by Costco in 2006 to have a few photos re-printed to put into a gift mini album and found out that I could not upload them. Not sure what is going on but I will be taking it to Costco and finding out why.

Thanks for stopping by my little blog, have a great day.

A New Blog on the Block

I would like to announce that I have taken on a new project that I'm very excited about. I have started another blog @ www.getcreativescrapbooking.blogspot.com so that all Scrapbookers around the Lower Mainland can have a place to visit to find out when and where they can "Get Creative". I will be listing all events around town as long as I have the information. Please help me out by spreading the word and also by telling me where and when you are scrapbooking.

Cardinals win again

Michael had a great game tonight. He hit 2 for 2 with one being a double to centre field. He also made two plays one with a catch at 2nd base to call out the runner and the 2nd was catching a grounder at 3rd and throwing it to first to get the 3rd out and end the game. He really put in a great effort today. I'm very proud of my little ball player.

I found another hour today to complete a layout using another recipe. I'm sure loving this Scrapping by Recipes. This layout's recipe was: Red, White & Blue, Scallops, Stars, two different fonts.

I Love a Challenge

I love a challenge, it motivates me, steers me, and gets those creative juices flowing. Last night after Club Copic I still had lots of energy so I went online and searched out a challenge. My challenge was to create a layout using a vertical title.

I'm excited about this layout for several reasons:
1) It took me less than an hour to complete,
2) I used products that have been in my Scrap Cupboard for over 4 years,
(Worldwin cardstock, TLC letters, SEI Pattern Paper, Francis Meyer Stickers, and a few misc items)
3) I get to update the ticker on my blog,
4) I get to put another completed page in my album. Yahoo!!! I love how Scrapbooking enhances the joy of looking at photos.

Thanks for stopping by :o)

Club Copic

I have been playing today with my Copic Markers. It is time for Club Copic at Get Creative Scrapbooking Company www.getcreativescrapbooking.com and I love it because lately it seems it is my only time to play with my markers. I thought I would share the card that I made as a sample for this month's club.

6 months and counting

I noticed that it is exactly 6 months until we are back at Timberline Ranch for another fabulous scrapbooking retreat. These photos depict two of my favourite things about the weekend retreat. The first is driving under this sign and onto the Timberline Ranch property, and the second is Breakfast on Sunday, always Waffles with Strawberries and Whipped Cream.

Good bye to Clipper Street in Coquitlam, you will be greatly missed. Congrats to Deanna and Stacey on their new venture as owners of Clipper Street, Langley. Enjoy the journey. Can't wait for the next Summer Party Crop. I'll be sure and bring the cruise ship again, it is due for another adventure.

I love surprises and today I got a great one in the mail. The summer edition of Canadian Scrapbooker has arrived. I'm very excited that I have been published again (even though it says "First time published"). After returning home from the Crop n Cruise in March I quickly put together my autograph box that I made to remember all the great and fabulous teachers on the trip. When Katarina saw it she asked to publish it in the magazine. They chose to display three of the eight cards (Katarina Doyle, Izzy Wood, and Deanna Hutchison). You can find it on page 12. I know that Izzy was not a teacher on this cruise but she has always inspired me and she is one creative lady. Izzy you were a great travelling companion and I can't wait until we can do it again.

Another suprise I found as I turned the pages of the magazine, was the group photo of all the Crop n Cruisers in Miami having Breakfast prior to boarding the ship on page 22. Izzy and I can be found in the top left corner.

On The Front Burner

Well I can't believe a week has gone by since my last post. It really does seem like the week was a blur. I have been keeping busy with various activities for both me and my family.

On friday I went to a funeral which helped put the important things in life back on the front burner. The world lost a beautiful soul in Debbie, she would put everyone before herself anyday, anytime. God bless her family during this difficult time.

This weekend I managed to get my whole house cleaned all at the same time. Lately this doesn't happen much. Usually I just get one thing done at a time and it is never fabulous all at the same time. It's like coming home from a vacation but I haven't been anywhere. LOL

No baseball for Michael this weekend and that has been a nice break. I will have to refuel the jet pack for the next two weeks, we will be at the ball field 9 out of the next 14 days. And then there is 3 nights of Basketball too.

No Scrapping this week for me so no new photos to share. I did figure out that long weekends are a great time to upload your photos to be printed. Finally I found a good time, usually it is my luck that the site is really busy and I keep having problems with the upload. Not this time :o)

Survivor finale was tonight and I really liked the outcome. It is rare that my player I choose to vote for wins. My couple also won this season on the Amazing Race. Maybe I can three-peat with Dancing with the Stars. I won't tell you my pick just in case it jinxes me. I'm very superstitous.

Enjoy the extra day off tomorrow if you are lucky enough to have it off. It is my plan to work but I did take off Friday so I can't really complain.

Thanks for visiting, it means alot to me :o)

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there.

Today started out bitter sweet since this in now my 2nd Mother's Day without my Mom, I sure do miss her. Now for the sweet part. My boys made my day full of fun, love & laughter. First they ran out early this morning and returned with this lovely bouquet of flowers, it includes all my favourites. I love it when they remember what I like. Then came the cards and presents. Michael wrote me a poem and made me a bath bomb. Ooh I should have a soak tonight.

For breakfast the boys took me to my favourite. I love their strawberry crepes. :o) OMG they are so good.

After we returned home from breakfast I was given strict orders that I was not allowed to work at all today. Oh my! Should I tell them I did a little work first thing this morning? They were so sweet because they said that I was allowed to Scrapbook while we spent time together. We watched a movie together and then the boys went out to practice baseball while I worked hard to finish my mini album. Again my system is working for me, this morning I picked up this project that was just lying around and instead of moving it somewhere else I just finished it. My camera seems to be acting up, the colours and clarity are not right in these photos. I'll take some more photos tomorrow with better light and a different camera.
Tonight I had a t.v. night (4 hours). We ordered Chinese food for dinner and watched Celebrity Apprentice and the Amazing Race. Both very good seasons in my opinion. Now I'm down to just watching Dancing with the Stars.
Have a great week, next weekend is the long weekend, woo hoo :o) Is anyone going away?

Getting My Create On

Here are my layouts that I created today. I had lots of fun making these and re-living the events. I'm also very excited because I used my new Cosmo Cricket paper that I just had to buy yesterday. Thanks for enabling me Jo :o)

This photo was taken inside a cave and this so-called window was used by the owners of the cave who did live there many many years ago. This spot was inhabited by a man who would signal to Samana when Pirates were arriving. What a view, I think I might like to live there.

My boys all dressed up for photos. I love this natural laughter between the two of them.

This is my friend Trisha from the Crop n Cruise. She is such a doll, a real great gal. Can't wait til we can spend more time together. Maybe a visit to Edmonton in October.

Thanks for stopping by.

Crop Day & Night

I'm very excited to say today is "Crop Day & Night" around here. I'm so excited to get my "Create" on. Not sure what I should work on but I'll be sure to come back here and post my findings.

Last night Michael had a baseball game against the same team they faced on Sunday. Again it was a nail bitter and our team was behind all the way til the last inning. Michael had a turn at pitching and he did very well for not having much practice time. We are still undefeated, oooh the tension is building. Next game is Saturday.

Check out the sale at Get Creative Scrapbooking if you are in need of any supplies.

Thanks for visiting and have a GREAT day :o)

May is here

Here is a photo of my lonely tulip that finally opened in my garden.

Happy Birthday Robin, in celebration we had our favourite lemon danishes as a treat.

Friday night Michael's basketball team received their first loss ever. It was a hard fought battle and they almost won but in the end they ran out of steam. The score was 40 - 38.

Saturday was an all day fundraiser crop for the "Relay for Life". It was great to meet all these creative ladies and we had lots of fun together. I created another Disney layout which I will post of photo of soon.

Saturday night was the Canucks Hockey game and then straight to bed for some reading and a long restful night.

Sunday, Michael had a baseball game and they won 9-4, they are still undefeated. The team is really gelling well and they are looking good. The game is really enjoyable and can be a bit of a nail bitter.
All weekend long I have been trying to participate in the online crop over at The Paper Passion. I have finally finshed one of the challenges and here it is. I had to use these five items: 1) the colour purple 2) journaling strips 3) an altered edge 4) three pictures and 5) rub-ons.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a Great Day :o)
